Questions

Which registration do I choose, full year or fall?

Full year runs September 2026 to August 2027 and covers cross country, indoor and outdoor. Fall only covers fall programming and expires 30 November 2026.

If your athlete is training through the winter and competing outdoors next summer, choose full year. If you are trying the club for the first time, or only want cross country this autumn, fall is the lower commitment. You can extend a fall registration to a full year later by paying the difference, so you are not locked in.

What days will my athlete train?

Future Track Stars and Junior Development typically train Monday and Wednesday. Senior and Elite Development typically train Tuesday and Thursday. Cross country athletes add a Saturday session and a Sunday long run.

Those are the usual patterns, not a confirmed timetable. Times and locations depend on facility availability and are confirmed by each coach before the season starts.

When does the season actually start?

Cross country begins in August. Sprints, jumps and throws begin in September and run to November. A full year registration then continues indoors through the winter and outdoors to the end of August 2027.

The first club meet listed for the fall is Sunday 20 September at Canada Games Park.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The club cancels as little as possible. Running groups train in light rain. Throws, jumps and hurdles are cancelled more readily because wet conditions add real safety risks.

Cancellation calls are made close to the session, using the forecast and checking with people who live near the venue. Weather across Niagara can differ from one town to the next, so the club will not always get it right. Cancellations are posted to the practice schedule and to Facebook and Instagram. A group email is not always possible, so check those first.

Do practice times change during the season?

Yes. The club lays out the season in advance but treats it as subject to revision. Expect adjustments as school and meet calendars firm up.

In late October and early November, particularly after the clocks change, some practices move 30 to 60 minutes earlier to keep sessions in daylight.

Who coaches, and what happens if a coach cannot make it?

Coaches are volunteers with jobs, families and, in some cases, their own studies. The club provides coaching across all event areas, but there will be occasions when a coach is unavailable. The club tries to cover the session with another coach, though that is not always possible.

Is there training expected outside of practice?

For high school athletes, yes. On top of the scheduled group sessions the club asks for one day of stretching and core work, and up to two days focused on strength and conditioning. Your coach will give you the detail.

What happens after I register?

You will hear from the club by email with your athlete's training group, the confirmed days and times, and where to go for the first session.

If you have not heard anything a week before the season starts, email the club rather than waiting.

When does early bird pricing end?

31 August 2026 at 11:59pm Eastern, on both registration sites. After that, most programs go up by $25. Fall registration then closes entirely on 12 October 2026.

What is the difference between Recreational and Competitive?

Recreational is training only, up to two practices a week, and athletes compete at Thorold Elite meets only. It is offered in Junior and Senior Development, sprints or distance.

Competitive is the full training program across all event disciplines, and athletes can enter local, provincial, national and international meets. It carries the Athletics Ontario and MTA fees plus the AO competitive upgrade for their age category.

What are the Athletics Ontario and MTA fees for?

They are the mandatory governing body memberships that let an athlete train and compete in Ontario. The club collects them at registration and passes them on. They are $35 for Kindergarten to Grade 6 and $40 for Grade 7 and up, charged once per registrant.

Competitive athletes also pay an AO competitive upgrade set by age category, from $5 at U8 to $135 at Senior and Open.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Choose the "on site" payment option rather than paying by card. A minimum of $200 plus the AO and MTA fees is due up front and the rest goes on a plan. Contact Coach Fife to arrange it.

Credit card payments cannot be split. Trackie charges the full amount in one transaction.

Do you offer a family discount?

Yes. On yearly memberships it is $50 off the second family member and $100 off the third. On seasonal memberships it is $25 off the second and $50 off the third. There is also a referral credit of $50 for a new yearly member or $25 for a new seasonal member.

Promo codes cannot be stacked. If your family qualifies for more than one, contact the club and we will issue a single combined code before you register.

My athlete does jumps or throws but I cannot find it in Junior Development.

Jumps, hurdles and throws are not offered separately at Junior Development in the fall. Those athletes register for Junior Development Sprints and work on the full skill set in that group. Jumps and throws appear as their own options from Senior Development up.

How does an athlete get into High Performance?

High Performance is by invitation. Athletes in Grades 9 to 12 are identified alongside the head coaches, and acceptance by the club and the athlete's primary coach is required before registering.

It is an add-on to a competitive registration, found under Additional Purchases at checkout, not a separate program. Email the club at thoroldelitetc@gmail.com before you register and they will point you to the right coach.

I registered on the old 2026 Outdoor site. Do I need to register again?

No. Full year registrations taken on the 2026 Outdoor site in late July carry over automatically and are valid to 31 August 2027. Coach Fife handles the move. If you registered fall only, that expires 30 November 2026 and can be extended by paying the difference.

If you are unsure which one you are on, email the club before registering again rather than paying twice.

Trackie is letting me add two programs. Should I?

No. One program fee per athlete is the club's rule. Trackie will let you select a second full year program and bill you for both. If your athlete trains in more than one discipline, register for one and the club will add the second at no charge.

If you have already been billed twice, contact the club and it will be corrected.

Are fees refundable?

No. All registration fees are non-refundable. The $100 account credit for meet entry fees is the one exception, as it is a prepaid float rather than a fee.

What if I still have a balance from last season?

Outstanding balances must be cleared before a new registration can be completed. Contact the club and we will confirm what is owed before you start.
